Hummer Tires - Monsters on the road

One of the most popular Sport Utility Trucks today is the Hummer. Hummers originated as a vehicle used by the military because of its power, durability, and safety. Today, the Hummer is still used in wars, this version of the Hummer is known as the H1. However, the Hummer has caught the eye of individuals and is now being manufactured for everyday sale. The Hummers available for purchasing by individuals are known as the H2 Hummer and the latest edition to the Hummer family, the H3 edition.

Up to model year 2000, the H1's had a wheel size of 16.5", which is a pain in the neck to find a replacement for. Since then the H1 and the H2 & H3 families have used 17", which is easy to find and the wheels can be upgraded to a larger size. Since hummers are such heavy vehicals, perhaps the most important factor with your tires is the Load Rating. Load Range does vary depending on what hummer you have, and you will need extra load tires. Because of this high load rating, you won't find the hummer tires cheap compared to your standard car tires.

Hummers are powerful and are built to withstand the harshest terrains and weather conditions. This would not be possible if the Hummer was not equipped with tires of the correct size and tires that are somewhat designed for harsher driving conditions. Some individuals use their Hummers for sport activities, in this type of situation, the individual may want to purchase tires that are designed for off road or sport purposes. If you only drive on city roads, you may be able to get a quieter tire with good tread life. Off road tires are typically noisy on paved roads.

Hummer vehicles are normally equipped with a stock tire size of seventeen; however, the tire size of your hummer can be made larger. Hummer tires can be in the size of seventeen, eighteen, twenty, twenty two, twenty four, and twenty six. It is important to make sure that you read your hummers placard in order to determine how much air pressure you will need to fill your tire with. If you have a larger size than the stock size or you have a custom tire, you will need to consult with the tire manufacturer about how many pounds of air pressure you should fill the hummer tire with. Maintaining the proper size of air pressure is crucial in order to maintain safety, ride quality, and to ensure that your vehicle will hold up to the situations it is enduring.

Before you purchase tires, you will need to read the placard located in your Hummer. In most cases, the placard is located on the inside of the driver’s side door. Once you are aware of the tire size, you will need to place the proper amount of air pressure stated. If you have larger tires than the stock size, it is crucial that you ask a technician about the proper amount of pressure. Some of the most Popular Hummer Tires are:
