The tire business known as Nexen tires began back in 1942; however, back then it was known as Heung-A Tire. Nexen Tire Company is known as Korea's first established tire company. Nexen Tire Company began producing tires in 1956. The Nexen Tire Company has continued to gradually expand and grow due to the development of a second tire production facility. The second tire manufacturing facility was built in Yangsan, Korea. The Nexen Tire Company has been able to broaden their horizons by forming alliances with other companies. The name "Nexen Tire Company" was created to represent the companies will to provide the tires of the future. The word Nexen was originated by combining two words that represent the word "Future." Their name was accurate, because that same year Nexen Tire Company became listed on the KOSPI 200 Index future market.
